Movement and mindfulness bring the Feel Good Factor to Harehills Park

“I really enjoyed being outside and taking part in activities with other people. It was a lovely day.”

Harehills Park was the home of Feel Good Factor Leeds’ Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds in the Park programme this spring and summer, supporting more than 225 residents to make better use of their local park and engage in activities to support their wellbeing.

Sessions engaged residents of all ages and abilities, offering beginner-friendly yoga, guided group bike rides, fun games, and healthy refreshments.

Feel Good Factor’s team and volunteers helped make each session inclusive and friendly, encouraging conversations around wellbeing and creating space for people to connect. The programme encouraged healthier lifestyles, boosted confidence, strengthened community connections, and helped residents experiencing isolation to try something new and spend time with others in their local park. With attendance surpassing expectations, the team hopes to build on this success by continuing to offer varied, accessible activities, and promoting them even more widely.

Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds in the Park showed how simple, inclusive outdoor activities can bring people together, support wellbeing, and help communities feel more connected to their local green spaces.

This activity was made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and with thanks to National Lottery Players. This activity was also generously supported by the Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation.

“I enjoyed the cycling and being active. It was relaxed, friendly and welcoming.”
