Harehills Bowling Club sees residents of all ages compete in Summer ‘Bowlympic’ Games.

Established in 1906, Harehills Bowling Club is an all-inclusive Crown Green Bowling Club and Community Hub. The club often organises community events, promoting bowls as an inter-generational sport that can reduce inequalities and social isolation and enhance wellbeing.

Last Summer, as the world watched the Olympics in Paris, ninety-seven residents from across the Harehills community gathered at Harehills Bowling Club for a ‘Bowlympic Games’ fun day.

Set in the heart of Harehills Parks, the club offered residents crown green bowling taster sessions mixed with family fun activities and entertainment. Activities on offer included sports-themed crafts for children and infants, and inter-generational games that encouraged adults and children of all ages to play side-by-side.

The event was a success, with so much fun had that volunteers kept the event open for an extra hour to ensure participants had the opportunity to complete the games on offer.

“It was brilliant to be able to join in all the activities with the kids”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful day”
