First Grants Round Opens

First Grants Round Opens

Our first grants is open – thanks to the generosity of business supporters and members of the public who donated £25,000 to the Fund.

Grants of £500 – £2500 are available to community groups with ideas for projects which improve their local park or green space.

The grants round has an environmental focus following the declaration of a Climate Emergency in Leeds. Applications should be able to demonstrate that their project meets at least one of the following:

  • Benefits the local environment
  • Improves access to natural environment
  • Increases use of natural environment
  • Educates people about the environment

The grants round opened in August after our  initial fundraising target was reached. The majority of donations came from businesses which work with Parks & Countryside. Park users also contributed at cash donation stations in park venues across the city.

Playground supplier KOMPAN was one of the companies which made a donation by joining the Leeds Parks Fund Corporate Supporter Programme.

Simon Burke Area Sales manager of KOMPAN said: “KOMPAN believe supporting local communities to improve their open spaces is key to ensuring Leeds remains one of the greenest cities in the UK. We look forward to working with the Leeds Park Fund, enjoying the opportunity to meet and engage with many new groups and organisations across Leeds.”

The deadline for submitting applications to the grants round is 12 noon on 8 October 2019. For more details go to Leeds Community Foundation website.
