England Netball brings community netball to Meanwood Park.

England Netball is the national governing body for England’s most played female team sport in the country.

Over Summer 2024, England Netball delivered community netball sessions in Meanwood Park. The purpose of these sessions was to remove some of the barriers that women and girls face in accessing sport, by creative an inclusive, safe space that fostered a sense of belonging.

These pilot sessions were a resounding success, with 49 residents participating, 39 of whom were new to netball or playing for the first time since school. The programme saw lasting improvements made to the park’s sports facilities. It also offered opportunity for a local resident who had been out of work to develop their coaching skills, completing a Level 2 coaching course so that they can deliver future sessions across Leeds in 2025.
