2023 Consultation Reports

I can always reconnect with nature and myself when I visit [my local park].

We’re really pleased to launch our Consultation Reports for our 2023 Parks: Burley Park and Harehills Park.

We wanted residents to be inspired and creative when sharing with us their vision for these parks. Through open dialogue, unconstrained by closed questions, we were able to discuss residents’ memories of, hopes for, and challenges in accessing the park without restricting or influencing their views.

It was important to make the consultation process inclusive, addressing barriers to participation. Rather than hold standalone focus groups, our team went out into the community, meeting under-served groups where they were already congregating, whether that be at a volunteer-led class, sports match or community event. This approach allowed us to work closely with park users and non-users alike in a trusted environment.

For those residents unable to participate in face-to-face consultation methods, we also offered digital opportunities to contribute, through social media polls and the Leeds City Council Commonplace survey.

These reports have been produced by Chloe Sykes, CEO, using data collected by Anne Proud, Community Officer, of Love Leeds Parks. The consultation project detailed in the reports was made possible with the National Lottery Heritage Fund and with thanks to National Lottery players.
Should you have any questions regarding the information contained in this report, please get in touch on info@loveleedsparks.org.uk. We would be happy to discuss in further detail.
