Community spirit shines at the Cross Flatts FC Summer Cup

“We need more activities like this at Hunslet Moor, it makes the park feel alive”

This Summer, Cross Flatts FC brought residents together at Hunslet Moor Park for a fantastic day of football, fun, and community connection. Players, families, and local residents filled the park, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere that celebrated the best of community sport.

Alongside an exciting match full of passion and teamwork, younger children joined in with fun football skills sessions and everyone enjoyed a well-earned slice of pizza! The event was a huge success, with many attendees staying afterwards to chat and connect, showing just how much local parks mean as safe and welcoming spaces for all.

Thanks to their Community Parks Activity Grant, Cross Flatts FC were able to offer free access to football activities, helping families and young people to get active and feel part of something positive. A community movement that began as a response to crime and division has grown into a story of unity and pride – proof that football and green spaces can bring real change, one match at a time.
