Creativity and community: Spot Park Jam spreads joy across Leeds parks
Spot Park Jam has been on the move, and Leeds parks are feeling the energy. What began as a single creative park jam has grown into a vibrant, city‑wide celebration of Hip Hop culture, environmental care, and community connection. With back‑to‑back editions in Harehills Park and Hunslet Moor Park, the programme is reaching more children and families.
The 2025 Harehills edition marked Spot Park Jam’s third, and most successful, year yet. Supported by our community grants programme, the team delivered twelve hours of hands‑on workshops, featuring six artists and a mix of music, movement, and making.
More than sixty attendees explored Hip Hop’s creative elements, from graffiti and rhythm to collaborative art, all while connecting with their local green space in new, imaginative ways.
The response was overwhelmingly positive. 100% of participating children were extremely happy and want more. One parent shared, “This was the highlight of his week, it completely lifted his spirits!”.
In 2026, Spot Park Jam expanded again, this time to Hunslet Moor Park, in collaboration with LS‑TEN. The fourth edition brought even more energy, more artists, and more community involvement.
Thanks to grant support, the team delivered free enrichment workshops in a local primary school ahead of the park jam, helping children build confidence and excitement before joining the event. Across school and park sessions, 300+ children were enriched, with 150+ attendees taking part on the day.
Seven artists led twelve hours of workshops and entertainment, blending Hip Hop culture with environmental activities. Children planted seeds, created artwork, danced, skated and explored the park in playful, meaningful ways.
Spot Park Jam is growing fast to bring creativity and culture to parks across the city. Each edition strengthens community pride, supports children’s wellbeing, and encourages families to see their local green spaces as places for expression and belonging.
With demand growing, the spirit of Spot Park Jam is set to keep rolling, inspiring more parks, more partnerships and more moments of magic across Leeds.
“Absolutely fabulous! What more could we want!”
